On September 24th, we took part in an international event marking the end of the Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route project, organized in partnership with the Danube Competence Center.
Early in the morning, officials and project partners from Italy, Serbia, Bulgaria, the United States of America, as well as local guests, were networking and enjoying the welcome coffee at Hotel Capitol, right before the opening session of the event. The conference began with a lively speech from Danube Competence Center’s Project Manager, Mr. Danko Cosic, who was followed by the key note speakers Mr. Octavian Arsene, Director of National Authority for Tourism Romania and Ms. Emanuela Panke, Secretary General of IterVitis Association.
Several partners delivered short presentations, mentioning their contribution to the Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route project. Subsequently, Mr. Danko Cosic summed up the project achievements and Michael Werner, from the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Albany, elaborated the scientific background of Route certification.
The event went on after a well-deserved lunch break, when the attendees were offered delicious sweet and salty dishes through a rich Swedish buffet. After the break, the subject of “Wines from the Danube region” becoming a label on the international market was addressed by Stanimir Stoyanov, the Chairman of Union of Oenologists of Bulgaria. Later on, the audience had the opportunity to listen to Ms. Penelope Denu, contacted via video call, and witness the official signing of Memorandum of Understanding between IterVitis and the Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route.
To end the evening in a flavorous note, the guests were invited to attend a wine tasting organized by Mr. Dan Jalea and Alcovin winery, where wine and travel bloggers from Romania were also present. The following morning, those eager to discover the Romanian capital enjoyed an early guided tour of the city.
To say the least, we were delighted to contribute in the planning and organizing of the Danube Competence Center’s final project. We hope to honor our collaboration by taking part in further events and projects of this scale.
